a dream I had about being at school with Wendy and Leanne

I think it was a wall calendar in one of those spinning racks a lot of retail stores have. Maybe the rack didn’t spin, but it had a picture of a cute baby on it. I think it was a human baby, but it might have been a kitten or something. I don’t remember. It looked like Wendy though, so I told her.

She looked over at it from her desk. We were in a classroom, two of what seemed like at least a couple of dozen students. She grimaced, squinting her eyes and twisting her nose in a way that told me, without her saying a word, that she disagreed. “A little,” she eventually muttered. I agreed.

She was actually cuter than the baby. Perhaps I didn’t realize that until I compared them both again. Perhaps I never thought they looked enough alike to mention it and only did so to get a laugh out of her. In that case, I failed. She didn’t seem to be offended though. She even grinned.

I’d been standing, but I soon made my way to my own seat near what I think was the (an) entrance to the classroom. It was right beside Leanne, probably my best friend there, and on this particular day the teacher, Kathy or Cathy, also sat close in a desk facing the right side of mine.

Leanne had her book on my desk. It was a novel entitled something like Romancing Ralph, but it had three words in some kind of play-on pun. “Why can’t people just come to class and pay attention to the teacher like I do,” I said jokingly as I’d done anything but that day. I finally got a laugh.
