The title is a stretch. Tinashe is famous, but Popstar should probably be reserved for the headliners she emulates. That’s not to say she doesn’t have her own style, but this album; never mind the odd cover photo; isn’t a good showcase of her talent. There’s a surprising amount of shoddy songs. She also tends to chant rather than sing, which leaves much to be desired in the way of melody.
