Pen And Gear Kids’ Scissors

Pen And Gear Kids' Scissors

The fact that these are sold as Kids’ Scissors makes the neon colors; they’re available in purple, pink, green and blue; more forgivable than they otherwise would’ve been. I’d prefer plain black handles, but they get the job done when it comes to cutting everything from paper to grown-up beard hair.

3D Energy Drink : Watermelon Grape

3D Energy Drink : Watermelon Grape

Watermelon and Grape are generally two of the best natural/artificial fruit flavors, so this combination is a welcomed addition to the growing list of 3D Energy Drinks. The underlining taste is about as good as you’d expect. It’s the carbonation, not so much the sting but the fizziness, that dampers the experience.

audio review : Sons Of The P ( album ) ... Digital Underground

This album, coming after the EP Release, is the official follow-up to Sex Packets. It’s not as addictive or imaginative, but there are some Parliament/Funkadelic-inspired beats to groove to. Highlights include Tales Of The Funky and Kiss You Back, but the best song is Family Of The Underground; an affiliate collaboration led by what sounds like a gorgeous organ riff.

audio review : a Mathematics compilation : Black Samson [ The Bastard Swordsman ]

The cover art suggests this is a Blaxploitation movie “starring” Mathematics; he produces the music for every track; but it’s also a Wu-Tang compilation of sorts. Every member is featured. It could almost be their new album. The best songs are the first three; Mandingo, Roar Of The Lion and Claudine. The plot starts to go astray from there.

audio review : Motel Du Cap ( album ) ... Good Charlotte

A stay at Motel Du Cap is somewhat of a pleasant experience. There aren’t any fancy amenities like banger beats or killer choruses, despite lead singer Joel Madden putting in what seems like a considerable amount of effort to achieve the latter, but it’s decent enough for a three-star inn. The better songs include Bodies and Stepper.

Castleberry’s Shredded Pork Chili With Pinto Beans

Castleberry's Shredded Pork Chili With Pinto Beans

You’ll probably be grossed out, thinking this Shredded Pork Chili is spoiled, when you first open a can and take a whiff. The sweet odor suggests it’s well past the expiration date, but the “pineapple flavors” are to blame. Whoever thought it was a good idea to add fruit to Chili should be run over by a food truck. Still it tastes better than you might expect, especially when eaten with bread.

Yardley London Nourishing Bath Bar : Oatmeal And Almond

Yardley London Nourishing Bath Bar : Oatmeal And Almond

You might be tempted to eat this soap. The most interesting thing about it is what feels and looks like bits of actual Oatmeal And Almond. It’s a Nourishing Bath Bar that “helps soothe dry skin” and “exfoliates”. It seems to clean remarkably well and smells like cocoa butter, but the moderate lather doesn’t exactly suggest “English luxury”.

video review : Viviane Araújo versus Tracy Cortez at UFC 317

“Both of these women are dry,” Joe Rogan observes early in Round 1, “They’re not soaked in sweat yet.” By the end, as Tracy Cortez is dominating (“riding”) her opponent on the mat, her back is indeed sweaty and it’s a sexy sight to behold. Not that the fight itself is uneventful. It’s just not particularly competitive. Cortez wins decisively.

Realgood Cheese Enchiladas

Realgood Cheese Enchiladas

The first bite might be off-putting to people who aren’t used to eating Mexican food, but these Cheese Enchiladas, made by the Realgood Foods Company not in Mexico but New Jersey, get better the more you eat. Are they really good? No; they’d be better without the spicy “red sauce”; but they’re not bad.

video review : 28 Years Later

video review : 28 Years Later

This story should’ve taken place 28 Months Later to leave room for the sequel it so blatantly sets up at the end. Not that it matters much. 28 Days Later is a good horror flick that, like most, should’ve been left alone. These sequels simply aren’t up to par.

The plot, like its characters, runs away from the zombies it’s supposed to be about. They’re a conceptual underlining to what has become, even more so than before, a kindred love story. The peak, when the action should be in high gear, is slow and soppy.

audio review : Victory ( album ) … Slick Rick

audio review : Victory ( album ) ... Slick Rick

This is Slick Rick’s first album since the 1990s and, from the sound of it, not much has changed. He still raps like Slick Rick and these lo-fi beats could have easily come from that era. That’s a good thing. The songs are indolently short and the set is short on singing; his most charming musical attribute; but it’s otherwise a proper follow-up to The Art Of Storytelling. Royal highlights include Landlord and Spirit To Fly.
