If Green Day are claiming to be Saviors of rock and roll music or even the punk subgenre they’re founded upon, this album isn’t a testament to the fact. The brash soundscape sounds right, thanks in part to a reunion with producer Rob Cavallo, but the songs are mostly unexceptional. The one head-banger is about a druggie girl living in 1981.
