video review : Jason X

Make no mistake about it. This is Friday The 13th, Part 10, meaning that Final bit from last time; the second in the series; turned out to be nothing more than semantic trickery. That’s not at all surprising. What is is the depth of absurdity it’s taking us to. You’d think the streets of Manhattan or the pits of Hell; same difference; would’ve been deep enough, but here we are in deep space.

It’s 2455. Earth is dead, or at least no longer able to sustain life, which has the remaining human population living on; you guessed it; Earth, part 2. Jason is brought back via cryonic “reanimation” to continue doing what he does best and those kills are basically the only engaging scenes. This is a movie so far removed from the original concept it seems more like a parody than a sequel.
