Chick-Fil-A’s Cookies And Cream Milkshake

Chick-Fil-A's Cookies And Cream Milkshake

My only complaint with this Chick-Fil-A Milkshake is that the Cookies, which taste like Oreos, consist of such tiny bits. I understand it’s considered a beverage, but they also give you a spoon. It’s a tasty treat either way; the whipped cream and cherry topping also adds a touch of elegance; but a chunky version, with big fat cookies you have to chew down, would be even better.

Van Leeuwen French Ice Cream : Buttermilk Berry Cornbread

Van Leeuwen French Ice Cream : Buttermilk Berry Cornbread

This is Buttermilk ice cream with “pieces of honey cornbread”. They should’ve stopped there or perhaps added strawberries. Raspberries are one of my least favorite fruits, but their presence only prevents this from being the delicacy it could’ve been. It’s still damn good as is, especially when you let it melt a little.

audio review : Wet ( song ) … YFN Lucci ( featuring Latto )

YFN Lucci’s hook is slick enough over this bedroom beat, but it’s Latto who steals the scene, à la Roxy Reynolds on Gorilla Zoe’s Talk Back, with a raunchy verse about her “leaking” Wet pussy. “After I’m done, he gon need a mop,” she says, “Treat me like a lady; fuck me like a thot.” She goes on to compare the sound to someone stirring a pot of macaroni and cheese.

Froot Loops : Sweethearts

Froot Loops : Sweethearts

The front of the box promotes this Valentine’s Day Sweethearts version as having the “classic Froot Loops flavor”, but that’s not exactly the case. The cereal, which is heart-shaped with a slightly softer bite, seems to taste a little less fruity to my buds. I’m not in love with it, but it’s likable enough with cold milk.

C4 Performance Energy : Popsicle Grape

C4 Performance Energy : Popsicle Grape

Grape is one of the best Popsicle flavors. This C4 Performance Energy drink, even with “zero sugar”, tastes like one. That provides, along with “explosive energy you can feel”; it actually makes your body tingle, so they’re not lying; a boost of summer nostalgia.

video review : I Shouldn’t Be Alive

video review : I Shouldn't Be Alive

This documentary series, about (stupid) people lost or stranded alone for Days in dangerous conditions with little means of survival, is apparently based on real stories. That, along with its snappy albeit formulaic production, is what makes it captivating. The details rely on not much more than what the survivors say happened; the visuals are mostly re-enactments; but the gist rings true enough to astound.

video review : Jiří Procházka versus Jamahal Hill at UFC 311

video review : Jiří Procházka versus Jamahal Hill at UFC 311

The Intuit Dome screen erroneously lists Jamahal Hill as having one loss at the start of this bout, but this is his third. That it comes via TKO after making excuses for his previous knockout; Alex Pereira’s bad sportsmanship after a confusing pause in action by Herb Dean was to blame; will only add more salt to his wounds; namely a swollen eye and busted nose.

Not that it isn’t a close fight. My score card actually favored Hill, despite his face telling a different tale, up until the ending sequence. That bit begins in Round 3 when he’s floored by a left/right combination he’s not able to recover from. Jiří Procházka fighting for a cancer patient in the crowd makes his victory, in contrast to Hill’s salt, that much sweeter.

Peelz Mandarins

Peelz Mandarins

These Mandarins are marketed as “sweet, juicy and easy to peel” and that’s all true. You’d be hard pressed to find a better tasting and more convenient fresh fruit to eat. You’ll need a garbage can or disposal unless you like to literally eat Peelz, which means they’d be even better if they were ready to eat; pre-peeled and cupped.

audio review : a song from Lost Girls : Lost Girl

Lucinda Williams may, at almost 70 years old, technically be a deplorable singer; she sounds like a homeless drunkard; but that’s just what a song like this needs. It’s the main theme from Lost Girls; a Netflix movie about the disappearance of Shannan Gilbert. Williams takes on the role of Amy Ryan as Mari Gilbert; Shannon’s mother.

“I’ll look for you on every corner and every street I look down,” she laments, “I will never give up hoping that one day you will be found.” It’s a sad and solemn affair, but, despite her weary disposition and singing voice, the main vocal melody stands strong. The song is especially poignant considering it’s based on a true (crime) story.

audio review : Blind Leading The Blind ( song ) … Willie D ( featuring Menace Clan )

You can hear Scarface doing backing vocals, but, despite being the best song on the Resurrection album, this isn’t really a Geto Boys song. It’s Willie D featuring the Menace Clan and the concept has to do with that old idiom of the Blind Leading The Blind. Where to? This poignant hood anthem never explicitly says, but the implication is poverty and death.
