Dr Bombay Ice Cream : Bonus Track Brownie

Dr Bombay Ice Cream : Bonus Track Brownie

The Bonus Track bit hints at the fact that this Ice Cream was, like Selena Gomez’s Cookies And Cream Remix, conceptualized by a song artist. Putting Brownies “and a thick fudge swirl” in vanilla ice cream isn’t particularly innovative, but it tastes damn good. Besides, knowing Snoop Dogg, it’s what’s in the Brownies you have to be wary of.

audio review : WAWG [ We All We Got ] ( album ) … Tha Dogg Pound

We All We Got would’ve sufficed. The WAWG abbreviation is tacky and redundant. The album makes more sense musically; the Intro is vintage Death Row; though it doesn’t get particularly interesting till “the last record” when Snoop leaves LA for New York City. Who Da Hardest, he asks over a DJ Premier beat. Tha Dogg Pound reply with guests RBX and The Lady Of Rage as you wish the whole album sounded like this.

Snoop Dogg’s Doggystyle or Eminem’s Slim Shady LP : Which album is better?

Doggystyle ( album ) ... Snoop Dogg audio review : The Slim Shady LP ( album ) ... Eminem

These are the debut albums of Dr Dre’s most successful (popular) protégés. Both are good. The Slim Shady LP is much better lyrically; Eminem’s unprecedented rap skills, in fact, make it the best I ever heard in that regard; while Doggystyle, with its P-funk-influenced (G-funk) soundscape, is better musically.

It’s not just the beats. Doggystyle, with guest singers like Nate Dogg and The Dramatics, is also better at the breaks. Shady’s hooks are inferior; especially Bonnie And Clyde, My Fault and Cum On Everybody. His verses though. Snoop is a decent rapper, better at style than substance, but Eminem wins that battle every time.

audio review : Tha Doggfather ( album ) … Snoop Dogg

audio review : Tha Doggfather ( album ) ... Snoop Dogg

This; Snoop’s second album; is bound to be compared to his Doggystyle debut. The cover photo; the rapper wearing and surrounded by black; also brings to mind 2Pac’s All Eyez On Me. It isn’t up for either challenge; Tha (Dreless) Doggfather is actually the weakest Death Row release so far; but it does include a few bangers and Bouncers.
