Bang : Any Means Orange

Bang : Any Means Orange

This drink, based on the YouTube “streamer collective” Any Means Possible, is promoted as “jaw-droppingly delicious”. That’s an exaggeration, but it is good, which is more (better) than I can say for most Bangs. It’s the carbonation that holds them back, so the flavor has to be impressive enough to outweigh it. That is the case here. It tastes like a Creamsicle.

audio review : Bars Over Bullshit ( album ) ... MC Shan

This is supposed to be a new MC Shan album; the long-awaited follow-up to Play It Again; but it’s more like the crude demo version. Even as a mixtape, its artistic blunders and technical flaws would be inexcusable. Songs just cut off. Some are so old, you can hear the scratches from the CDs they were ripped from. Shan still has Bars, so the title rings true, but it sounds like this project was recorded, mixed and mastered by a crackhead.

audio review : Heil Hitler ( song ) … Kanye West

The title, as a response from Kanye West to the countless naysayers he’s accumulated as of late; mainly sensitive Jews; is quite brilliant. The song itself, which comes across more like a demo without a second verse, isn’t far behind. That’s thanks not to the crude lyrics; the “nigga” bits are redundant; but the catchy vocal melodies. This is a sociopolitical anthem of sorts.

video review : Reinier De Ridder versus Bo Nickal at UFC Fight Night

video review : Reinier De Ridder versus Bo Nickal at UFC Fight Night

“Hype train derailed”, Billy Goff posts on X, but it’s not a total surprise. The wheels were getting wobbly in Bo Nickal’s last two fights. Cody Brundage and Paul Craig raised questions about a potential undefeated streak. Reinier De Ridder, his toughest opponent yet, answers them here by not only stifling his prestigious wrestling but defeating him “by knockout” via knees to the midsection.

audio review : Burning Out ( song ) … DJ Trippy

I probably would’ve called it Burning Up to emphasize the concept of summer and sweaty girls dancing, but Out, which does imply getting tired from physical activity, gets it close enough. The most appropriate setting is inside the club though with a DJ like Trippy on the ones and twos. The song is a definite party banger.

video review : Anthony Smith versus Zhang Mingyang at UFC Fight Night

video review : Anthony Smith versus Zhang Mingyang at UFC Fight Night

Anthony Smith is past his prime and this was promoted as his retirement fight, so it’s no surprise nor shame that he’d lose to a knockout specialist like Zhang Mingyang. It’s the way he loses; giving up in the first round but having the gumption to go after a prodder in the crowd as his family watches on; that’s embarrassing, especially considering he loss in a similar way in his previous bout.

video review : Jaqueline Amorim versus Polyana Viana at UFC Fight Night

“This one’s gonna play out on the ground,” Laura Sanko predicts and thankfully it does. Who wants to see two sexy Brazilian women fight standing when they could be sixty-nining 35 seconds in? Jaqueline Amorim is the top as she dominates Polyana Viana for the whole bout before submitting her. The cutest moment is their confused reaction to Dan Miragliotta mistakenly ending the first round early.

video review : Creepshow 3

video review : Creepshow 3

Creepshow 3, which should’ve come out in 1992; the first two were fours years apart; is worse than 2 but better than 1. The best story is the simplest; the one about The Professor’s Wife. It at least has a decent story arc. The Radio and The Haunted Dog are downright stupid, though the latter’s protagonist does manage to provide some laughs.

video review : Honeydew

video review : Honeydew

Honeydew is sweet and suspenseful, well on its way to being a good horror movie, for about the first half hour. That’s when you start to realize too much time is going by without anything (significant) happening. From there it’s a mundane affair as couple Riley and Sam get served by a crazy hag named Karen and her scrawny dining partner.

video review : Vacancy 2 [ The First Cut ]

video review : Vacancy 2 [ The First Cut ]

The trembly camera is a tad annoying and the plotting is somewhat hackneyed, but this Vacancy sequel, which serves as a prequel, is a decent follow-up. It’s not as thrilling as the original; part Twos rarely are; but there’s enough suspense to keep you checked in. The protagonist this time around is a “hillbilly” named Jessica staying at the Meadow View Inn with her fiancé and his friend.

audio review : Temple Of Hip Hop [ Global Awareness ] ( album ) … KRS-One

audio review : Temple Of Hip Hop [ Global Awareness ] ( album ) ... KRS-One

This is released as a KRS-One album, but it’s more like a mixtape to promote his new European Tour. The concept is established from the very start; “Welcome to the Temple Of Hip Hop 2025 Global Awareness Tour,” he says, which limits the set to not only a specific purpose but a specific date range.

The songs are what fans have come to expect; raw raps over boom-bap beats; but he should’ve saved the best ones for a proper release. The Tribute interludes, on which his industry peers praise him in the past tense as if he’s retired or dead, are reminiscent of the ones from the 1995 KRS-One album.

Reese’s Peanut Butter

Reese's Peanut Butter

This isn’t just Reese’s Peanut Butter. It’s an ice cream version from Breyers. It tastes sweet and yummy, of course, but it’s not quite as good as you might anticipate. It’s “light”, meaning it has less fat than normal ice cream, and you can tell. The “chunks of Reese’s Peanut Butter Cups” are also too small or maybe there just aren’t enough of them.
