video review : An American Crime

video review : An American Crime

Ellen Page is indeed “pretty” as Sylvia Likens; a lot prettier than the girl her character is based on. The broad title doesn’t do her justice. This is a story of not just An American Crime but domestic abuse blatant and extreme enough to reach levels of maudlinism. The plot seems improbable; family and friends joining together to beat and torture one frail teenage girl; but it’s actually whitewashed. The real-life accusations are even worse.

3D Energy Drink : Candy Blast

3D Energy Drink : Candy Blast

The name is too generic. It should be Skittles Blast because that’s what this 3D tastes like. That alone makes it easily one of the best (tasting) Energy Drinks I ever had because Skittles is my favorite Candy. It could’ve been one of the best drinks period; imagine Skittles liquified; if not for the carbonation.

audio review : Like A Stranger ( song ) … Fine Young Cannibals

This is a good song that gets great near the end. That’s when singer Roland Gift is joined by a chorus of women he still manages to sound more effeminate than. “You’ve been too long in the institution,” they go and it sounds like the finale of a glorious Broadway musical. The storyline has to do with a gay man’s fears in regard to his abusive ex-lover being released from prison.

audio review : To The East Blackwards ( album ) ... X Clan

Professor X is the one who keeps calling people sissies, but it’s rapper Brother J, with his intellectual diction, who comes across as a teacher. His Lessons, which consist mostly of racial (racist) pro-Black/anti-white bigotry, are debatable to say the least, but the music, which relies heavily on 1970s/1980s soul samples, is Funkin. The best songs are the two with the word Verb in them.

audio review : The Other Level ( song ) … Bushwick Bill

Bushwick Bill is having a threesome with “two of the finest bitches around”, but they’re not the only ones enjoying themselves. Listeners are treated to not only a fun little sex story, enhanced with ad-libs and sound effects from the girls, but a raunchy beat enhanced with a sample from Love Hangover by Diana Ross; the part where Ross sighs like she’s getting fucked.

audio review : Largo ( song ) … Fiona Apple

The fact that this song is about a real place; a music theatre in LA; from which Fiona Apple shouts out specific people doesn’t sit well with me. It’s one of her best two songs; Waltz, produced by Jon Brion, one of the names mentioned here, is the other; and it deserves a better, or at least more ambiguous, concept. Does Largo, the place, deserve such a wonderful theme? Probably not. Nonetheless Flannagan should be proud.

Bruna Brasil’s physical appearance

I’ve never been overseas, but I’d love to spend a few nights in Brasil. Her cute rat face, the beady eyes and pointy nose of which remind me of a younger (pre-facelift) Jennifer Love Hewitt, alone makes her an MMA fighter I’d help save money on towels by volunteering to lick the sweat off of between rounds. Her cup size is a lowercase A, but that’s okay. She’s a Special One nonetheless.

audio review : Gods Network [ Rebirth ] ( album ) … Rakim

This is supposed to be the new Rakim album; his first in a long time; but it doesn’t sound like it. His Rebirth comes across as more of a posthumous project, which is odd because the God Emcee, unlike some of the guests featured here, didn’t die. Still every one of these “Se7en” songs is a collab with at least two other rappers.

The best among them is Chino XL who kills everyone figuratively, and literally via bomb at verse’s end, on a cypher that would’ve been better with no hook. I like Sally Green on the Love song though. DMX sounds stupid on Playground. Rakim can still rap. Too bad he didn’t decide to release a proper (solo) album after all these years.

audio review : Mack Daddy ( album ) … Sir Mix-A-Lot

Sir Mix-A-Lot is the Mack Daddy; “the man with the game” when it comes to luring sexy females with his ghetto glitz. The title theme is the best song. Baby Got Back; an ode to black girls with big butts; is another. The Boss Is Back; the worst song; should’ve started the album though. The order is a bit odd. It begins with a story about crooked cops and ends with a political rant against gun control.

video review : Longlegs

“Lady FBI agent” Lee Harker, played by Maika Monroe, is attractive. She resembles a younger version of Jennifer Lopez. There’s no other reason to watch this stupid movie; a horror flick about a serial killer who acts like The Joker and looks like Roc… Well, I’m not going to say who he looks like, but his name is Longlegs. Imagine Silence Of The Lambs but worse; a lot worse.

audio review : Nightshift ( song ) … Commodores

“Gonna be some sweet sounds,” the Commodores insist and they’re not lying. This song isn’t just sweet, it’s beautiful, especially when it comes to the vocal melodies. The only thing I dislike about it, in fact, is the concept. It’s limited to being a tribute to two specific dead singers; Marvin Gaye and Jackie Wilson; instead of the feel-good summer beach anthem the Caribbean vibes suggest.

video review : Twisters

video review : Twisters

This isn’t really a Twister sequel; more of a conceptual remake. The plot revolves (ferociously) around a storm chaser/tracker named Kate. She’s eventually saving the day while her two leading hunks hunker in fear; one of many eye-rollingly unrealistic clich茅s. The movie is fun enough on the whole, but it never lets you forget you’re watching a movie; a cash grab that speaks out against people “profiting off of” others. The irony.
