Bibigo Multigrain Medley : Brown Rice | Quinoa

Bibigo Multigrain Medley : Brown Rice | Quinoa

I imagine this is what prison loaf tastes like. The Bibigo catchphrase is to “share Korean flavor”. If this is how Koreans eat, I’m glad to live in the USA. That’s not to say this Multigrain Medley, the ingredients list of which is impressively simple/healthy, isn’t edible, but it’s barely so. It’s best to ignore the “1 serving per container” bit and share a bowl.

Monster Energy : Ultra Gold

Monster Energy : Ultra Gold

The Gold color, Greek design and stony texture; you can actually feel it; give the can a premium, almost epic feel. This drink is based on the mythical “nectar of ambrosia” with “the heavenly fresh flavor of biting into” a “perfectly ripened golden pineapple”. Those last bits are, of course, silly promotional hyperbole.

audio review : One More Time ( album ) ... Blink-182

Tom DeLonge is back. That should be good news for longtime fans. The rest of us won’t notice much of a difference as Blink-182; a “punk rock kid” band growing old; continues on. The title suggests this album, of which nostalgia is the main theme, may actually be their final. If that’s the case, it’s a decent farewell. The Fuck Face and Turn This Off bits are funny. Song highlights include Fell In Love and Other Side.

audio review : Trailways Bus ( song ) … Paul Simon ( featuring Sara Ramirez )

This isn’t just the best song from Paul Simon’s Capeman play and companion album, it’s one of the best he’s ever made. It’s sang mostly from the perspective of character (Saint) Lazarus; Simon also covers the roles of Sal and a “border patrol” officer while guest Sara Ramirez plays Wahzinak; and the vocals are wonderful.

That goes for both the melodies and the lyrics, apparently co-authored by poet Derek Walcott. “He can’t leave his fears behind; he recalls each fatal thrust,” one line goes in reference to Salvador Agron, who was convicted as a youth for killing two peers with a knife; “Screams carried by the wind; phantom figures in the dust.”

Crown Prince Kipper Snacks

Crown Prince Kipper Snacks

These; “fillets of kippered herring”; are among the healthiest Snacks you can eat. You wouldn’t know it by taking a quick glance at the box, which brings to mind movie theater candy. These aren’t as tasty, but they’d be better without the salt. The “naturally smoked” flavor; made with oak, ash, maple and beech chips; also adds an interesting touch.

audio review : Tha Doggfather ( album ) ... Snoop Dogg

This; Snoop’s second album; is bound to be compared to his Doggystyle debut. The cover photo; the rapper wearing and surrounded by black; also brings to mind 2Pac’s All Eyez On Me. It isn’t up for either challenge; Tha (Dreless) Doggfather is actually the weakest Death Row release so far; but it does include a few bangers and Bouncers.

Disney100 Confetti Cake Cereal

Disney100 Confetti Cake Cereal

This Cereal marks Disney’s 100 Years Of Wonder. Walt founded the company back in 1923 and it continues to make a cultural impact on the world a century later. The idea is to celebrate that accomplishment with Confetti Cake and it tastes as good as, if not better than, the real thing. Unfortunately it’s only available as a “limited edition”.

audio review : Thugg Niggaz ( song ) … Geto Boys ( featuring Dorasel + DMG )

The best part of this song is the beat, but it would sound even better if it fully embraced its reggae roots. The bassline, for example, should’ve been set more prominent in the mix.

Still the song is anthemic despite its clunky title. The “puffing” bit ties in well with the music; Rastafarians are known for smoking ganja; and Scarface’s verse is a highlight.

video review : Travis [ The True Story Of Travis Walton ]

video review : Travis [ The True Story Of Travis Walton ]

The title implies a full biography, but this documentary, which starts off interestingly but loses its way, is about the one thing Travis Walton is known for; his alleged alien abduction. The incident, which supposedly happened in Snowflake (Arizona) back in 1975, is presented as a True Story, but the evidence is mostly limited to eyewitness accounts from his six logger buddies.

Marketside Blueberry Muffins

Marketside Blueberry Muffins

I don’t generally like Blueberries, but these Muffins, which can be found at your local Walmart, are damn good. That’s mostly because, while the fruit is plentiful, its flavor isn’t overwhelming. It’s mostly the Muffin cake you taste; it’s sweet, soft and fluffy from top to stem; which makes me wonder if they’ll be even better plain.

Great Value Frosted Flakes

Great Value Frosted Flakes

This knockoff version of Frosted Flakes may be a Great Value, but it isn’t “gr-r-reat” like Kellogg’s. It’s surprisingly close though. You have to eat it the same; pour small bowls and chow down before the Flakes get soggy; to get the full experience, but it is comparable. The mascot; a polar bear as opposed to a Tiger; also better utilizes the double meaning in the name.
